Together with our talented collaborators, we have have produced four award-winning indie shorts; KINDRED, CLEARING & ASUNDER & RETURNED, which have screened internationally, winning several awards; Best Film, four times Best Short Film, twice Best International Short Film, four Best Actor, two Gold REMI’s, a Platinum REMI and Best Director at We Make Movies International, Los Angeles.
These films have been selected for Cannes Court Métrage, HollyShorts, BAFTA-qualifying Aesthetica and British Urban Festivals, Canadian Screen qualifying Toronto Black, Halifax Black and Houston International Film Festivals, among others across the UK, USA, Canada, Ireland, St Vincent, Ghana and Poland.
FOUNDER
Janet Marrett is a Screenwriter Director & Script Editor. Her work, often described as poignant and visceral, nuances human experience. As well as founder of Mediathirsty, she’s a member of Directors UK and BAFTA Connect.
Her short film RETURNED was selected for and developed with B3 Media’s Talent Lab, then funded by BFI NETWORK through Film London.
Her feature treatment ABLUTION was selected for and developed with Torino Film Lab. The screenplay ABLUTION was selected for Space development lab 2025, run by Ffilm Cymru Wales, CCW and LIM. Janet was selected with her newest project to attend LIM² 2026 Online Programme, a European feature development lab hosted by Le Groupe Ouest.
Janet completed the NFTS Script Editing course in 2024. She previously obtained a BSc Hons Photographic and Digital Imaging (University of Westminster), a PGCert Professional Photography (University of the Arts London) and MA Art & Media Practice (University of Westminster).
